How to Design Framed Bathroom Mirrors

Did you know that you can create your own framed mirror? Instead of heading to the mall and purchasing an expensive mirror, you can use material from around your home or purchase affordable items to design your own mirror.

How do I create my own mirror?

Designing your own mirror is the beginning of creating a completely new bathroom. You can use material from around the home such as photo frames. Try to choose an embossed type. Embossed frames make great wall mirrors. You could also create tabletop mirrors using it as a vanity mirror. make-up mirrors make nice displays, especially when you surround them with your favorite items such as bottles of perfumes etc.

How do I add a back?

You can use hardboard to add a backing. When picking the board however, make sure that you match the board to the weight of the mirror. Rather, make sure that the backboard will hold the weight of the frame and mirror. Mirrors typically weigh about 750g depending on the size. In this example, you are making the quarter frame, so you will need to allow 0.32m2 per m2. So, if your mirror weighs more than 3 pounds, you will need a board to hold 1.6kg per square foot. The thickness of the board then should be around one eighth inches. The mirror will fit into the rebate. You can have the glass cut at any glass shop or mirror shop.

Once you have your materials together, you will want to fit the mirror onto the backing. The backing should slide into the groove cut or wood joints. (rebate) Once you have inserted the parts, you will need to hit your brads gently to avoid breaking your mirror when nailing it into the picture frame. If you propose to hang the mirror on your wall, you will require hangers, which you need to permit to pivot.

How do I select mounting materials?
You will need a mirror, frame, short screws, corner braces, craft paper (brown paper), double-back sticky tape, dust cover, hangers, a couple of mirror hangers, awl, jigsaw, knife and extra screws to mount your frame.

Now that you have a basic idea, you can start creating your mirror. In short, it takes ten steps to create your framed mirror. To finish your mirror, we suggest that you go to your local library and check out books to help you. However, I will briefly walk you through the ten steps.

The first step is to turn your frame on its back and secure the corner braces, fastening them transversely to connect the mitred corners. With your awl, create pilot holes in the back of your frame. Once you have created the holes, insert the screws. If you have bought hardboard or are using cardboard, cut the board so that it matches the size or your mirror. Face down, place the mirror inside your wood joints. Now you can place your hardboard/cardboard inside the wood joints and over your mirror. Brads should be inserted at this point, which should be at 2.5cm intervals from the corners.

Next, use your tape to cover the frame, layering the tape to about 3mm from the outer edges of your frame. Throw away with the paper cover. Now you are off to a grand start to completing your mirror. Take the brown paper and cut a 5cm strip extending a sizeable distance further than the edge of your mirror. Once you have your paper over the backboard, you want to secure it. Use your sticky tape. The last steps is to trim, mark, and measure to add your hangers.

Changing Your Car's Appearance: Upgrade Your Sidelights

By Ethan Melandri

If you have HID xenon headlights or you have improved on the standard halogen bulbs you had for the newest in xenon light bulbs, you have seen how clear and white the light provided by xenon gas is.

The trouble is your sidelights are still that yellow colour, which is displeasing when you have xenon lights on your vehicle. Fortunately for you there is something you can do to improve the entire look of your vehicle. You can upgrade your sidelights just as you did your headlamps. There are more brilliant and clearer bulbs than the standard option, which even offer you a diversity of colours.

How Do Upgrade Sidelight Bulbs Differ From Ordinary Sidelight Bulbs?

Standard sidelight bulbs are very cheap massed produced items, utilising very rudimentary filaments with the glass bulb section normally filled with a basic, inert gas. By comparison upgrade sidelight bulbs use the very latest in car bulbs technology, and so are constructed from superior materials and have high quality filaments.

A great factor is the sidelights either have xenon or halogen gas. This means you get a radiant white light which compares perfectly to the HID xenon bulbs you have in your headlights.

What About Blue Xenon Sidelight Bulbs?

Xenon bulbs are created in different colour tints to give you a wider variety of choices for improving the lights on your vehicle. You can upgrade to clear glass or something with a blue tint. These blue lights are becoming more popular with motorists. The blue tint in the light is often thought to emit a blue beam from the sidelight, but more often the tinting of the light clears up the regular yellow emission, thus you have a whiter illumination.

There is a degree of legality when it comes to the blue emission your sidelights can make. There are two factors involved. The first is the ECE rules that state there is a specific amount of heat that can be generated by the bulb. Blue tint is a filter, which allows less light to be provided from the bulb. The ECE rules state there is a maximum level that this light reduction can be in order to remain legal for road use.

Secondly because the blue tinted glass traps some of the light from escaping from the bulb it runs hotter than a clear glass sidelight bulb, and if the tint is too dark the bulb will operate at too high a temperature and will burn out quickly

LED Sidelight Bulbs Are They Suitable For My Car?

The latest generation of sidelight bulbs use LED technology, and they are becoming more prevalent in prestige makes, such as the Porsche 997 and the Audi R8. LED stands for light emitting diode and they have several benefits over standard glass sidelight bulbs.

LED bulbs are sturdy and heavy duty. They typically last for more than 50,000 hours, use less power, and have a more brilliant light than standard bulbs. They are also available in more colours.

It is quite simple to change to LED bulbs for your sidelights. These LED bulbs are made to work in the standard holder and connector, so there is no modification needed.

Replacing your standard sidelight bulbs with either upgrade xenon bulbs or the very latest LED bulbs can really transform your car's night time appearance. They can produce a much brighter and crisper light, that is better suited to compliment xenon headlight bulbs and if you install the super long life LED sidelight bulbs, you will be more likely to need to change your car before you will need to replace the sidelight bulbs.

Hydrogen Fuel And Your Car Review

By Amanda Gamdana

Researchers have for a long time, been involved in finding inexhaustible energy sources for the car and though nothing significant has been found yet, there are several ways you could optimize your automobile efficiency and this includes using Hydrogen fuel cells. Although using water to run a car involves the chemical decomposition reaction of water into its constituent component atoms, Hydrogen runs on a different chemical mechanism altogether and is commonly used in many prototype machines and cars around the world.

Though gasoline and diesel dictate our lives and the way the world operates, the drastic increase in the costs of fuel makes it compulsory for us to look for alternatives to gasoline. The other matter to consider is the fact that traditional fuel has been the single largest environment pollutant the world has known and now that the existing fuel stock would only last for another 50 years or so, it is time that we made efforts to forget this old friend.

With the way things are shaping, it seems that switching to Hydrogen gas fuel cells is perhaps the only smart and intelligent thing to do. Combustion is not part of fuel cell operations where the calorific value of Hydrogen gas makes it a more feasible option where you not only get better fuel efficiency with the same amount but fewer risks of contaminating the environment. Hydrogen gas has always been one of the prime sources of energy holding massive amount of potential for the coming years.

The engineering science behind using Hydrogen gas fuel cells in the production of conventional fuel is simple, since it just breaks and transforms membranes for generating electricity, which is then used as fuel, but then what is the most convenient way to produce the required Hydrogen gas? Hydrogen gas can be produced by breaking down the H2O molecule using electricity, before it is allowed to react with the fuel cells, which then generates electricity, enabling the car to be run with it. The production cost is cheap and the automobile efficiency is not affected in any way.

Constructing a Hydrogen-run car with water fuel cells is a very elementary operation and any technically sound person or a car mechanic can create it with the help of ordinary tools. No real interference of the car machinery is required to do this, as some simple adjustments can get the started and moving. You do not even have to monkey around with the car engine central computer and all you have to do is to incorporate some minor adjustments. The mileage can be pumped up by an amazing seventy to eighty percent if you use a fuel line heater and a small device. The entire modified Hydrogen automobile doesn't cost a bomb and can be equated to a highly functional electric car without any emissions.

Compared to existing cars, which emit harmful emissions including Carbon Dioxide, these modified cars only gives out H2O as a by-product and gives commendable mileage. You would surely come across assorted guides teaching you how complex it is to fabricate such cars, but they are all nonsense as some internet sites have shown, all it takes is some minor adjustments.

The Authorities And DUI

By Richard Milford

If you are under the influence (DUI) and are caught and stopped by the authorities, it should not be taken lightly by anyone since chances are you will not get away with it.

The odds that someone is operating a vehicle under the influence is high since there is no law to stop them drinking up a storm. For this reason it has become a cause for concern because of all the fatalities resulting from it and families destroyed.

Drivers who are under the influence (DUI) believe they can drive a straight line or well enough to avoid being detected by officers, but that is not the case. Even the best drivers will give themselves away when intoxicated since they are not functioning at 100% and will be caught.

There are several ways traffic authorities have to detect intoxication from alcohol, drugs or other neural compounds and one is the BAC test. This test measures the amount of alcohol content in the blood. In the United States a reading of .08% or higher classifies a person as DUI and if driving and caught you will be liable for an offense.

Another test that traffic authorities administer in determining if the driver is intoxicated is through a Breathalyzer. As the name implies, it involves analyzing the breath of the driver. This is usually done at the time that authorities apprehend violators. Drivers are asked to literally blow some air into a device that reads the blood-alcohol-concentration and if it does not fall in the range of being drunk, the driver is free to go.

Officers not equipped with Breathalyzers can require you to take a urine test which then is tested in a laboratory to evaluate the alcohol amount in the body.

Different states do not have the same penalties since laws vary from state to state, with some higher than others for those driving while intoxicated. A determining factor in imposing penalties is if it is your first offense or if you have been charged with others and common sense tells you the second or third the penalties will be higher.

There are also states that define lines between the age of the offender, such as being a minor or a full-grown adult. Minors are often given some degree of leniency compared to people who have reached the age of majority.

In the past years, DUI cases have become rampant that authorities have enforced more means in preventing and apprehending drivers while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. More awareness campaigns were done in order to have minors and adults alike learn of the dangers of DUI. The government and the citizens must all work hand in hand to prevent more DUI related incidents in the future.

Big Adventures in Thailand

By Deb Corbeil

Thailand is certainly an exotic destination that people dream of visiting all around the world. When planning a trip to Asia, many have it as their first stop. It has been a top destination for years and it is increasingly growing in popularity.

Visiting a new country for the first time can be very intimidating. Being introduced to a new culture and language can cause a little bit of butterflies in the stomach once you step off the plane. Where do you go, what should you see? Here are some suggestions of great places that will take you outside of the tourist route and make you experience and adventure in Thailand to its fullest.

Krabi Province. Located in southern Thailand, this province is absolutely beautiful. Many islands and beaches, shopping and jungle to explore. But one of the most unique experiences you will have is to try your hand at rock climbing in Ralaigh. High cliffs surround beached in horseshoe shapes and your guide sets up a top rope for you to climb high into the air and overlook paradise.

National Parks. Thailand is filled with national parks and one of the best is Khao Sok. It is not as popular as other parks in the north, but that is the charm of the place. Inner tube down the river, stay in a bungalow in the middle of the jungle and hire a guide to take you on a guided elephant trek. It will be the highlight of your trip.

Chang Mai is well known for its night market. Once the sun goes down, the stalls open up and thousands of people walk the streets bartering for the best price. Tourists visit the hill tribes by the masses and cooking classes have been a staple here for several years. But think outside of the box and experience Thailand's deep spirituality with a meditation course. Slow down and re-centre yourself before you start your travels again. Truly inspirational.

In Kanchanaburi you can witness the famous Bridge on the River Kwai. Learn about the atrocities that took place here at the JEATH War Museum commemorating the men who died to build the bridge. Take a walk right on the tracks or hop on the short train ride that actually takes tourists over it. Stay in a floating river raft bungalow located right on the River Kwai, it is a nice change of pace to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

Bangkok has a great transit system and getting around is quite easy. From the subway to skytrain, river boats to taxi's. But one mode of transportation that will give you a thrill and memories to last for years will be to hire a tuk tuk. A famous sight on any postcard or photo of Thailand, these are small 3 wheel motorbikes that can carry 2 to 3 people and whip in and out of traffic at zippy speads.

Thailand is famous for its beaches for swimming and fun in the sun. But another place to relax in the water is at one of its many waterfalls. Normally you will find locals bathing here, you can get to know the people as you cool off in crystal blue water. They are found all over the country, so ask around and go ahead and visit one.

Thailand is one of those countries that most people return to again and again. And with good reason. These were only a few off the beaten path suggestions, but to take in everything that it has to offer, you will have to give yourself months to truly discover the land. From scuba diving and jungle trekking to fine dining and nightlife, it has something for every travelers needs.

A Car GPS Is Great, But The Surveys Are Provoking

By Roger Calfsman

This writer once lived in the woods in England for over three years. Although I continue to listen to the radio from time to time, I tended to ignore the huge changes going on in real life. I first heard the alphabet soup term "GPS" while I was still living in America, but always in the field of an army or big law enforcement or rescue agency. If I heard about a automotive GPS in a radio advertisements, I never knew what they were talking about, and failed to care to discover.

Welcome (Back) To America

Moving back to America, I was in for a dreadful culture shock. I avoided watching TV as long as I could, but my Mom ( who took her wayward child in ) loved it, so the TV was on all the time. I'd practically pound my head against the floor simply because I couldn't understand the commercials. My Mom had to explain to me what "bling" meant. That was a touch bit humbling.

At the time, I took computer lessons and attempted to get my head together. I certainly needed a car GPS to figure out what I was doing. As a lark, I joined many online survey groups. I started getting free samples, and learned what an automobile GPS was. I did not have much of a choice I was getting two or three automotive GPS surveys a week.

Back In The Saddle Again

I realized that instead of being bothered by geeky jargon, automotive GPS dashboard mounted devices were helpful and easily understandable gadgets that could help improve the standard of life. Imagine if the youngsters of Israel had automotive GPS units strapped to their mules and camels.

They wouldn't have wandered around in the desert for forty years. They would have found the best path to The promised Land before dinner.

People of my generation and younger get so easily lost because it is just too dangerous to go anywhere. Whenever we plan a road trip, we must allow at least 3 hours to get lost and then find our way again. Think about the waste of gas.

But with an automobile GPS unit, you do not have to waste gas or time to get to your destination. I wonder how much gas is saved by using automobile GPS units.

If I ever go back to the woods, I think I'll take an automotive GPS device with me. Perhaps then I could make better choices about my life.
